Christmas Vacation

We finally managed to make it to VA. It was a trying event, to say the least. We left Halifax 1.5 hours late, and then arrived at Laguardia too late to catch our plane. So, we managed to find someone who was kind enough to get us seats on the flight leaving in 5 hours. It took a while, but we got here. I was tired, but glad to arrive. Although I had forgotten a few things from home. hehe I'm supposed to monitor my temperature every morning..especially with my meds and things in there. And, yes...I left it on my nightstand. Oops! I guess it was just providence that I wasn't supposed to stress over anything. But, now I don't know if or when I ovulated. Ugh!

Our shopping is completely finished. We went out on Saturday and fought with people to get the last of our items. But, it's all done. Now we are waiting for a couple things to be delivered that we purchased online, and we'll do a one time wrap fest. lol I'm not a fan of having to clean up the mess of wrapping gifts multiple times. Do it once..and done.

I have to say that I am so glad that we have a guy down the road who does plowing. He has been kind enough to take care of our driveway while we are gone. We will settle up the account when we get home next week. That is such a weight off. Especially since I heard that we were getting storm tonight. It's been downgraded now, but still up to 10cm of snow. And for the friends who are going up to look after the cat, I would prefer that the not have to trudge through that, or even have to contemplate having to clear it.

Well, off to do some relaxing. :D We bought some books at Borders the other day. It was fun. I got a few books that seemed interesting. A couple are history books, and a couple are calculus problems. The calculus books will hopefully help in getting my skill up before I take the next level class. If I can get some of this to be self taught, great! If not..well...we'll rethink the calculus thing. lol

Tis the season

We leave tomorrow to head back down to Virginia. I am looking forward to going and seeing everyone...yet I'm not. I really do miss having Christmas at home. But, it will be nice to have everyone together. There really isn't a big reason to stay here for Christmas, since mom and dad decided to move out west. I think I just miss being in my own bed, my own house, and all that. hehe I'm just not the travelling type.

Add on to that, the lovely side effects from the meds. Wow. This month has been a rough one. I'm wondering if my iron has come up a bit more, which is making the meds seem to be doing more. Who knows. But, it's kicking my butt this month. But, I tell ya, my stomach hurts a ton! Travelling is going to suck because it hurts to move, sit, walk, everything. Maybe after a good nights sleep, maybe I'll be up to travelling. hehe We made the choice to fly through La Guardia this time. We have been going to either Montreal, Ottawa or Toronto, and then down. Problem is that with it being winter, we can't be sure what the weather will hold. Plus, we get to do a pre-customs, which I absolutely love. Then we just fly happy, and come in domestic, with no long lines at a big airport. We can just sit back and relax the rest of the trip. If we end up hitting weather at La Guardia, we can at least rent a car and drive the rest of the way if needed.

Well, I still have to go iron my dress clothes for the trip...*sigh* I haven't even packed yet. lol I still have a few hours. hehe

Thermometer woes

I will gladly admit that I am so tired of thermometers, and will be so glad when I can just throw this one in the drawer. I have an erratic sleep schedule, so I have to set the alarm to wake up, take my temp, and then go back to sleep. It throws my sleep off, a lot. But, I can't take it when I actually wake up, because it's a bit too late in the morning, and my temps are way off. Can you tell I am tired and cranky this morning? It was so nice when I used to live in the dream world of just having sex whenever will get you pregnant, and it's so easy to get pregnant that you have to take the pill to make sure you don't. I will be dancing with joy the day we find out we are expecting, I really will. It will be excitement and relief on so many levels. lol

Frenchy's - a holic

Hi, my name is Tanya...and I am addicted to Frenchy's. For anyone that doesn't know, this is kind of a second hand clothing store. But in recent years has become the place where all those clothes that stores can't sell, or they are removing for the new merchandise, are being sent. Honestly, most of the stuff in there now, still has the old tags on it. There is not much that is used. But, either way, you get some great deals.

I needed to get some nice clothes for Christmas. But, I really do hate to spend $50 on a blouse. I don't know why...if it's nice, and worth it, why not. Yet, I was raised to be a penny pincher, and I still follow that. I ended up with about 10 blouses, 2 pairs of dress pants, and 2 hoodies, with Joe finding a shirt and pair of shorts...all for the great price of $52. They are now getting all freshly washed. :D

This evening I have to work on those Christmas cards. I did manage to remember to buy stamps while we were mailing some things off. hehe That's a start I guess. :D

I started taking round 4 of the Clomid last night. It's been pretty good to me, the last few months. I'm not 100% sure on the doctors methods. But, it seems to be okay. My big concern was that I had stopped ovulating, which had never been an issue before. This seems to be doing the trick. Once my body levels out, and if it will keep O'ing on it's own, then I will consider the meds a success. Even more of a success if we get pregnant. hehe But, that will happen in due time. :)

Fun with Paint

I made the attempt to paint the livingroom and hallway with a lovely colour of paint, called Cherry Cobbler. Unfortunately, it ended up looking terrible. It was streaky and didn't cover, and was just all around horrid. Come to find out it was the type of paint we were given, and the primer the store gave us. We ended up going to Benjamin Moore to get different paint, and see if they could give us better advice. We walked out with new paint, and a slightly different colour. It wasn't as red, and is a much warmer colour. It seems to have a much more brown base. But, it covers like a dream! The first coat looks absolutely wonderful. The only reason for a second coat is to make sure everything is covered and blended well, and to just get rid of any little imperfections that may be lurking. It should only take me about 45 minutes tomorrow to put on that last coat of paint. Yay! And then we will finally be done.

We bought some nice lovely linen curtains. And the trim colour we chose is quite close to a linen colour. I think it should look nice, and the linen colours will give the room a bit of brightness without it being that bold, in your face white. We have decided on a couch that is a faux leather, and it's a dark brown colour. It's a sectional, but on a bit of a smaller scale. One side of it looks more like a chaise, so it's a bit more to our liking.

Just a few more days and the history exam will be complete, and we will be heading on our way to VA for Christmas. It will be nice to be able to see people down there. We were able to catch up a bit in August, but it is always so long between visits. Next year will probably be even worse. We probably won't make it down for Thanksgiving, just because we have to take time off school. If Joe is in the Masters program, then odds are we won't be able to get the time off. But, we will definitely be able to go next Christmas. :)

Insanity insues

To give a little background...my uncle Doug is married to this woman. But, he wants a divorce and he left her quite some time ago. Of course, she comes calling for a booty call, to which he obliges and BAM she gets pregnant. Surprise! Didn't think that could happen. *facepalm* Also, keep in mind that she gets pregnant AFTER an incident when she assaulted him. I mean..she beat him to a pulp, while he waited patiently for the cops to show up, because he knew as soon as he touched her, it was his fault.

Alright, fast forward to now. She has broken in numerous times, and has gotten to the point where she was ranting and raving outside so loud that the neighbours came out to see what the commotion was, and they all heard her uttering death threats to him. In addition to death threats, she has threatened to kill herself and take the baby with her. So, social services have been called on her about that. But, the cops had no choice but to press charges on her. The funny thing is, that if she gets charged with anything, she will lose her job, and be up the creek. My uncle Davie hit it right on the head when he told the cops that the next time they come over, it can because of a fatality, and they will be too late.

Political Mayhem

Okay, so here is the interesting story. We begin October with an election. The election resulted in another minority government, with Stephen Harper taking the most seats of anyone, hence making him Prime Minister. Now, cut to the middle of November, when the new session resumes with the winner of the election taking his seat. Of course, since Harper was already in office, he just kept going as normal. But, then at the beginning of December, we see the leaders of the other parties step up and form a coalition. Their reasoning was that because more Canadians voted for them as a whole (3 parties worth) that they should all share leadership. Umm...what? We now have a coalition government that is trying to get power to save the bankrupt Liberal party. Does any of them realize what this means for democracy? Not to mention the fact that they are all in bed with the Bloc? The Bloc who still wants Quebec to separate, and break up Canada?! They are freakin' insane! The whole lot of them! I am hoping that the Governer General tells them all to grow up.

So, the government is out until the 27th or so of January, when Harper is going to release the budget. The Liberals have already stated that they will vote down the budget, no matter what it has in it. Bunch of dummies. They played their hand already. So, when they do vote it down they seem like morons, if it's a good budget, and if they accept it, they look like hypocrites. Sounds like a great January!
